HTC’s unaudited Q1 2012 financials: revenue down by 35 percent

HTC’s unaudited financials have just hit the wires and it looks like the negative trends from last year are continuing. For the first quarter of 2012, revenues are down nearly 35 percent year-on-year, with revenues of 67,790 million Taiwanese dollars (around $2.3 billion) for the period. Operating income was 5,099 million Taiwanese dollars (roughly $173 million) and profits after tax 4,464 million Taiwanese dollars ($151 million). The company must be hoping that this represents the end of the nasty hangover from its previous scatter-gun approach to phone production. Now that it’s gone with the sleek and slender One series lineup, we’ll see how well the company’s about-turn does in the next two quarters.

2012 NFL Mock Draft: New England Patriots Full 7-Round Mock Draft

To be honest with you, trying to predict Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots draft is almost impossible, as they draft for value, and they certainly aren’t afraid to trade picks back and forth.

If Belichick were to draft these players, then this class would certainly have the potential to be one of New England’s top classes in quite sometime.

I really love the selection of Janoris Jenkins. I believe he’s a perfect fit with the Patriots, and I’m sure Belichick would call up former Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer about his character issues?and we all know that Belichick loves his Gators; just look at Aaron Hernandez and Brandon Spikes.?

The two Alabama selections would be safe and affective moves, as both Dont’a Hightower and Mark Barron would be first-year impact players because they played in Nick Saban’s complex defensive system.?

As for New England’s final three picks: Vinny Curry reminds me a lot of Mark Anderson and would certainly be a younger?replacement?and could help out in the pass rush department. As for Brewster, he likely wouldn’t be a first-year starter but could be New England’s center of the future. Lastly, North Carolina wide receiver Dwight Jones is a well-rounded receiver that could play a small role in New England’s offense next season.?

If this were to be the class that Belichick would bring in next season, then I would mark it as a complete success and grade it as an A.?

NFL’s Ochocinco, US House speaker trade tweets

CINCINNATI?? Chad Ochocinco, meet the speaker of the U.S. House. On Twitter, of course.

The New England Patriots wide receiver known for prolific social media interactions tuned in to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday night, and he soon was wondering about the unsmiling man sitting behind the Democratic president. Informed by a friend it was Republican Speaker John Boehner of Ohio, the former Cincinnati Bengal decided to reach out to him on Twitter, asking Tuesday night if he was “OK.”

Apparently still concerned Wednesday, Ochocinco asked Boehner in another message if he was in better spirits, and told him: “If all else seems bad in life, just remember I love you kind sir.”

Boehner thanked Ochocinco in a tweet and wished him good luck in the Super Bowl. The Patriots play the New York Giants for the National Football League championship on Feb. 5.

“We’ll see you in the playoffs next year,” Boehner added, using “Bengals” and their fans’ cheer “WhoDey” to tag his response on Twitter.

Boehner’s Twitter feed later included a photo of him at his desk with a Bengals helmet in the foreground.
